are there any instructions on mounting qemu image and install grub on it. i want to copy kickstart, initrd images on it and have it boot those images automatically while launching VM.

can i create multiple partitions on qemu image before launching VM with that image.

i guess one way is to start with a blank img file and install a linux OS on it. was wondering if there is a way to setup qemu image without installing linux from cd-rom etc.

thanks for help.

Sure, just make an image file

Sure, just make an image file with qemu-img and then boot from cdrom to partition it.

# qemu-system-x86_64 -name Bootcd -sdl -M pc -m 512 -boot d -cdrom some.iso -drive file=snapshot-1.img

you would also work from snapshots so as not to mess up your base image once you
have it setup how you want it.

# qemu-img create -b base.img -f qcow2 snapshot-1.img
