KVM-64 was released today featuring pci hotplug, paravirtual mmu and improvied PIT accuracy. KVM continues to add an impressive list of features to the hypervisor making it increasingly competitive with more mature hypervisors. There will no doubt be lots of interest in the hotplug features and paravirtual mmu. To date, the hotplug features provide hotplugging for cpus and pci devices.

I spent a long time

I spent a long time scratching my head about how best to actually implement this into my system. I use qemu/virsh to control my VMs, so needed an XML config change to use taps rather than vnet devices. I found all I needed to do was to yum install tunctl and edit the XML for my guests and find:R4DS UK
