I have two host servers ready to install KVM and I would like to provide some degree of load balancing and redundancy.

I plan to use DRBD in dual-primary mode to store the disk images and I was going to use the raw resource ie. "-drive file=/dev/drbd0" but I have since discovered that you need qcow2 image files to support snapshots.

Can anyone tell me if the underlying filesystem for storing the qcow2 images on /dev/drbd0 needs to support distributed locks, or will KVM/qemu handle this? ie. should I use ext2 or gfs? - I dont plan on storing anything other than disk images on the DRBD devices.

Any thoughts appreciated!

Use OCFS2 from Oracle? this

Use OCFS2 from Oracle? this is cluster fs for storing databases.
So DRBD->OCFS2->QCOW2
