KVM test candidates for stable branch now available

The development of KVM has seen a rapid pace and with increasing adoption of the hypervisor also came increased pressure to publish a stable maintenance branch. Well today KVM maintainers have took the opportunity to not only release a test candidate for a maintenance branch but also to separate the userspace element from the kernel module. Users will be able to then pair the userspace releases with the corresponding kernel module releases. Mixing them will also be possible in most cases. The naming convention will be as follows:

  • qemu-kvm-devel-xx for test userspace package. This will eventually become qemu-kvm-xx
  • kvm-kmod-devel-xx for test kernel module package. This will eventually become kvm-kmod-xx
  • Combined package will continue to be kvm-xx

The new test releases for the stable maintenance branch can be found at the following link:

Are these releases going to make it to sourceforge?

Are these releases going to still be posted to the sourceforge downloads page? Might want to post a note there with the new location if not.

Screen corruption on VNC

I'm seeing quite a bit of screen corruption over VNC with kvm-85rc1. KVM-84 was fine for me. Is this a known problem?

Re: sourceforge

I suspect that it will but an announcement will certainly be made if anything changes.

Re: vnc screen corruption

Actually this was a known issue with kvm-84 and patches were submitted which should have fixed it for kvm-85rc1. See the post here..

VNC Access Lists

Can anyone tell me how those VNC Access lists are working in the final build?

Christian, I'm actively

Christian,

I'm actively working on a post on how to use the VNC access list.
