Qemu 0.10.0 Stable Branch Released

Today, qemu maintainers have announced the creation of a stable qemu 0.10.0 branch. The new stable branch includes many features, of which the major ones are listed below. Most hypervisors which employ qemu for userspace use a modified version qemu. KVM also started this way but KVM has been aggressive at merging their changes into upstream qemu. One of the notable inclusions with this latest branch is support for kvm.

- Kernel Virtual Machine acceleration support
- BSD userspace emulation

- VirtIO paravirtual device support
- Marvell 88w8618 / MusicPal emulation
- Nokia N-series tablet emulation / OMAP2 processor emulation
- PCI hotplug support
- Live migration and new save/restore formats
- Curses display support
- qemu-nbd utility to mount supported block formats
- Altivec support in PPC emulation and new firmware (OpenBIOS)
- Multiple VNC clients are now supported
- TLS encryption is now supported in VNC
- MIPS Magnum R4000 machine (Hervé Poussineau)
- Braille support (Samuel Thibault)
- Freecom MusicPal system emulation (Jan Kiszka)
- OMAP242x and Nokia N800, N810 machines (Andrzej Zaborowski)
- EsounD audio driver (Frederick Reeve)
- Gravis Ultrasound GF1 sound card (Tibor "TS" Schütz)
- Many, many, bug fixes and new features

So this means that we could use qemu 0.10 instead of kvm-userspace ? is kvm-userspace deprecated or some basic funcionality is merged in qemu but kvm-userspace have more features ?

Eventually that will be the case. The kvm maintainers are not quite there yet but that can be expected soon. I had recently posted a link to the mailing list discussion on this but it also applies to your question. See discussion at the following link:

whats the different between kvm and qemu with kvm support? can i replace one with the other?
