Today redhat announces the release of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 beta featuring KVM-based virtualization alongside existing Xen-based virtualization. This is the first commercially available version of KVM certified by Redhat. Also available with this release are some software unique to redhat such as the VDI SPICE protocol which improves graphics performance on the VDI side. Some other interesting technologies included are Single Root I/O (SRIOV), IOMMU and VT-d, all of which will add performance and scalability to kvm virtual machines.
